Thousands of pounds has been pledged to the Kingston Regatta.
More than £17,000 was raised at CNM Estates's annual charity luncheon during the Kingston Regatta on Saturday, July 8. Of the money raised, £10,952 went to the Kingston Rowing Club with a further £6,200 being donated to the Grenfell Tower appeal.
CNM Estates chairman Wahid Samady said: “the event was a tremendous success and we are proud to sponsor, for the seventh year running, this major summer event in Kingston’s sporting calendar.’’
Director of community engagement Laila Samady-Mustad added “as a Kingston-based company, we understand the important role played by the local community in creating a successful town and are passionate about encouraging the growth of the younger generation.’’
Organised by a large network of volunteers, the Kingston Regatta brought together hundreds of schools and club crews competing in more than 275 junior, novice, intermediate and mixed masters races.
The distances included 1,000m, 500m, as well as 350m sprints, with clubs competing for the title 'Victor Ludorum'. The winning club on Saturday was Kingston with City of Oxford claiming the trophy on Sunday.
